AN AVERAGE AMERICAN FAMILY

(FAILURE TO) LAUNCH DAY!

The day has FINALLY come!  It has been a very long 9 months of remodeling and prepping. We have fixed all we can fix, we've loaded up the Bus, and we are ready to find adventure!!!

Our first "stop" has always been planned to be at the bus mechanics in Bushnell, roughly 60 miles from our family farm in Dover, FL. The reason we were stopping there is to have the bus looked over, change all the fluids, and then tweak the suspension a tad. We would stay the night and then we would continue on our adventure in the morning.

Great plan, right? We sure thought so, but the Universe had other ideas.....

Once the mechanic looked it over (Because our bus is "vintage" it is specialized and only a handful of people across the country know how to properly work on them) he knew the suspension in the rear was MUCH worse than we feared.

Our entire left rear suspension had to be replaced. Yup, you read that right....had to be completely replaced. He told us it's going to take 2 weeks to replace it. Our bus is our home...literally. It is so incredibly hard to leave your home somewhere to be worked on. We just weren’t prepared for this at all. We had to gather up the essentials (small amount of clothes, medicines, and living things) , load up the Jeep with 3 kids, 5 dogs, 2 adults, and our gigantic iMac between my knees to head back to Kyle's parents farm and stay in his childhood bedroom.

We know that everything happens for a reason and it just wasn't our day to launch yet. We are also grateful that we have a place to stay while our home is being worked on. It could have been so much worse if we DIDN’T stop at the mechanic first. We were all overjoyed to be on the road, but thankful that the big man upstairs was looking out for us again.

What is something that you prepped and planned for and then got let down immensely? Let me know in the comments!
